| I support the reinstatement of the timber harvest severance tax in Oregon. I also support increase the corporate tax in Oregon, particularly for foreign investor owned Wall Street corporations. Another priority it to strengthen Oregon public meetings and records law to provided better accountability and transparency at all levels of state and local government. | |||
| Restore economic health to communities that was lost in the 1990s, which would be funded by restoring reasonable property taxes on private timberland owners, with over 5000 acres. I would also restore the timber harvest severance tax at 6 1/2 % or better, which it was in 1990. Our neighbors all have this tax, Idaho = 3 1/2%, California = 3 1/2%, and Washington = 5%. I support Washington's model, which provides 80% local communities and 20% to the state. This would fund public safety and schools. This tax is paid by corporations for the privilege of using our resources. |
